Tattoo Inkqueries!
Here’s a description of my tattoo practice, with some things to consider & questions to help me understand what you’re looking for in your tattoo so that I can be as supportive as possible through the process. Please respond however feels relevant/ complete to you.
As an artist, I value patience, attunement, & precision. As a tattooer, I invite deep listening to the intuitive wisdom of the body & distill what it reveals into the design process. I want your tattoo to feel like an integral part of your body rather than a surface decoration, reflective of your interiority & made visible through the emergent clarity of the tattoo medium. Tattoos can be talismans for remembering who we are & who we are becoming. To me, tattoo is the ritual marking of the body in reverent affirmation of being incarnate & an invitation to honor life’s journey as it changes & marks us. Tattoo has been practiced as a rite of passage for many thousands of years across the globe. It is my intention to offer tattoo as an artistic-therapeutic practice for supporting spiritual inquiry. I believe that with clarity and presence, profound healing & transformative growth can be accessed through the medium of tattoo. It is a powerful & humbling experience to mark one’s body, & I am grateful to be entrusted with this honor. Looking forward to hearing from you! ~Arulu
I use a combination of hand-poke (stick-and-poke) and rotary machine techniques, and only work with organic vegan black ink.
